Kiara Advani was born on 31 July 1992 as Alia Advani. His father, Jagdeep Advani, is a Sindhi-Hindu businessman, while her mother, Genevieve Jaffrey, is a teacher and Christian with Scottish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Irish ancestry. Kiara also has a younger brother, Mishaal, who is a musician. She is also related to actor Ashok Kumar, as her step-great-grandfather, and Saeed Jaffrey, as her step-uncle.
Kiara studied at the Cathedral and John Connon School and completed her graduation with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications at Jai Hind College. She has had a passion for acting since her childhood and had developed a good dressing sense since then.
Bollywood Career
Kiara’s real name is Alia and she changed her name to Kiara at the suggestion of the famous actorSalman Khan, as Alia Bhatt is already a well-established name. She has also stated that she got the inspiration for the name from the 2010 Priyanka Chopra movie, “Anjaana Anjaani”. She developed a love for acting from a very young age. She has mentioned that her father let her choose any career after watching the 2009 Bollywood Movie “3 Idiots” starring Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, and R. Madhavan. Then she started to give auditions for various movies and now has become one of the most popular Bollywood actresses.
The Beginning
Kiara Advani started her acting career with the Bollywood ensemble comedy “Fugly” in 2014. But unfortunately, the film failed to perform well at the box office. In 2016, she got an amazing opportunity to share the screen with Sushant Singh Rajput in the biopic based on the life of the famous cricketer MS Dhoni titled “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story”. This was a highly successful movie and helped Kiara to establish her name in the film industry. She then got featured in an action thriller “Machine” in 2017 but it was an unsuccessful venture.
In 2018, Kiara collaborated with Karan Johar for their first of many movies and appeared in the Netflix series “Lust Stories” opposite Vicky Kaushal She also got the chance to work with Shahid Kapoor in the music video “Urvashi” and both have performed outstandingly. In the same year, she also appeared opposite Mahesh Babu in the Telugu action film “Bharat Ane Nenu”. The film became one of Telugu cinema’s highest-grossing movies. But her next Telugu film “Vinaya Vidheya Rama” does not meet the same fate. In the following year, she appeared in another Karan Johar movie “Kalank” for the song “First Class”. By this time, she has been able to create her influence on the audience and proved her skills.
The Prominence
After getting so much fame from her movies, she got various offers for quality films. In 2019, she appeared in the romantic drama titled “Kabir Singh” opposite Shahid Kapoor. This movie turned out to be a huge success and earned great love from the audience. This was also the highest-grossing movie of her career at that time. The movie received many critical reviews for the depiction of toxic masculinity and misogyny. After this, she shared the screen with Diljit Dosanjh along with Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan for the comedy “Good Newwz”. She played her role with great enthusiasm and energy which helped her win the IIFA for Best Supporting Actress for portraying her role brilliantly in this movie. Kiara reunited with Akshay Kumar for an epic horror comedy “Laxmii” in which Akshay got possessed by a transgender ghost. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie was released on Disney+ Hotstar. She also appeared in an unremarkable romantic comedy “Indoo Ki Jawani” in the year 2020. In the following year, she appeared in a war film titled “Shershaah” opposite Sidharth Malhotra. The movie was highly loved by the audience and got many great reviews. It was released on Amazon Prime Video and became the most-streamed Indian Film.
She became so popular and got so much recognition that she started to get amazing movies to her side. She shared the screen with Kartik Aryan and Tabu for the horror comedy “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2” and with Varun Dhawan along with Neetu Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Manish Paul, and Prajakta Koli for the ensemble cast in “Jugjugg Jeeyo”. She then appeared in the comic thriller “Govinda Naam Mera”, sharing the screen with Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar. We will see Kiara again on the screen in an untitled Telugu film opposite Ram Charan. She will also appear alongside Kartik Aryan in the romantic drama “Satyaprem Ki Katha”.
The Ups and Downs
No one has been able to avoid the downturns in their career. Katrina Kaif too has to face some bad times in her acting journey. Though she has become one of the most loved Bollywood actresses by now, there have been some movies which failed to perform at the box office as expected. These movies include “Phantom”, “Fitoor”, “Baar Baar Dekho”, “Jagga Jasoos”, “Thugs of Hindostan”, “Zero”, and “Phone Bhoot”. These were some of the films which failed to gather as much audience as expected and did not prove good for Katrina. But we live all sides of life. Personal Life
Kiara Advani has been rumoured to be in a relationship with her “Shershaah” co-star Sidharth Malhotra. Kiara has stated that she met Sidharth at the wrap-up party of “Lust Stories”. That was just a casual meeting but she said that she will never forget that night. They shared various videos and photos while they were shooting for “Shershaah”. The couple has been seen together for a very long time and the rumours got proven when they announced their wedding. The couple finally got married on 7 February 2023 at the Suryagarh Palace near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Together they made a beautiful couple.
