SRK was born on 2 November 1965 in New Delhi. His father, Mir Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian independence activist who participated in the campaigns with Khudai Khidmatgar, the non-violent movement led by Abdul Ghaffar Khan. He was highly influenced by Abdul Ghaffar Khan and wanted an independent and united India. SRK’s mother, Lateef Fatima, was a magistrate and greatly ahead of her time. She studied at the University of Oxford, England, and was a very beautiful woman. SRK also has an elder sister, Shehnaz Lalarukh Khan.
Our King Khan married the love of his life, Gauri Chibber, in 1991 with a traditional Hindu ceremony. He had confessed that Gauri is the only person he ever had a crush on. The gorgeous couple has three kids – two sons and a beautiful daughter. His firstborn son is named Aryan, and his youngest kid is named AbRam (to represent the amalgamation of different religious beliefs), while the daughter is named Suhana and all the kids are highly loved by him.
SRK started his acting journey with a Television series, Fauji, which was first released in 1989. Do you know that he started acting in a 1988 TV series, Dil Dariya, but due to some production delay this was released in 1989, thus Fauji is considered his debut production? His great acting skills then brought some other great television series to his side including Circus and Idiot.
He has also played some minor roles in TV series like Wagle Ki Duniya, Umeed, and an English television film named In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones. He began his career with small television shows and now has become the King of Bollywood and a renowned celebrity all over the world.
Do you know that initially, SRK was not interested in acting in films? He believed that he was not good enough for such big projects. But later in 1991, he changed this decision and began to pursue a dedicated acting career in Bollywood. He confessed that he changed his previous decision as he was looking for a way to escape from the grief of his mother’s death. To become a successful actor, he shifted to Mumbai. This shift earned him four films that year, and he debuted in the 1992 movie Deewana, which became a hit and he won his first Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. The other three movies include Dil Aashna Hai, Chamatkar, and Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman.
In two of his most popular 1993 movies, Baazigar and Darr, he played excellent anti-hero roles, bringing great recognition to his work. In Baazigar, he portrayed a revenger who murders his girlfriend. This negative role shocked the Indian audience and won him his first Filmfare Award in the Best Actor category. Darr was the first collaboration of SRK with Yash Raj Films. In this movie, he played the role of a fanatical lover and became famous for one of his iconic dialogues “I love you, K-K-K-Kiran”. For his amazing performance in this negative role, he got nominated
for Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role, which is also known as the Best Villain Award, but unfortunately, he lost that to Paresh Rawal. In 1994, he won this award for Anjaam in which he portrayed an obsessive lover. In the same year, SRK brilliantly portrayed an infatuated musician in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and won Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance. This amazing representation of his acting skills has brought him the appreciation of being a natural actor who acts directly from his heart.
After performing some negative roles, Shah Rukh Khan had been seen in some truly epic roles which had become one of the most iconic roles in Bollywood history. Two of the most classic movies of all time had been released in the year 1995, Karan Arjun and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ). Karan Arjun became the second highest-grossing film of that year, the first being DDLJ. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge completely changed the course of SRK’s acting journey. This movie was the beginning of him being the Romance King of Bollywood and had given him his signature pose, which does not need to be explained.
DDLJ is also the longest-running movie in Indian Cinema history. This movie has been run in Maratha Mandir (a Maharashtrian theatre), for over 1000 weeks as of 2015, which is almost 20 years. It is still one of the most loved Bollywood movies and is appreciated by generations and generations. This epic romantic movie has earned 10 Filmfare Awards.
In the year 1997, some other excellent movies were also released including Pardes, Yes Boss, and Dil To Pagal Hai. In the coming years, he has starred in some great romantic movies like Dil Se.., Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mohabbatein, Devdas, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Chalte Chalte, Veer-Zaara, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Om Shanti Om, and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, among others. In this decade, he is not only starred in romantic movies but also some comedy, action, and thriller movies like Duplicate, Baadshah, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..., Main Hoon Na, Swades, Don, Chak De! India, and Billu. These outstanding movies were released over one or two decades ago but are still loved in 2022. This is the power of SRK.
By this time, SRK has become one of the finest actors in Bollywood. In 2010, he was cast in another one of his iconic movies, My Name Is Khan. This movie was based on a true story and related to backdrops of perceptions about Islam that
were created after the 9/11 attacks. He portrayed the role of a Muslim with mild Asperger syndrome. For this role, he had spent many months reading books to do research on his role. He gained a great appreciation for this epic portrayal of the character. In 2011, he portrayed the excellent role of a Superhero in Ra.One. He played this amazing role alongside Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal.
Later in the same year, Don 2 was also released for which SRK trained and performed many stunts by himself. In later years, he starred in some other good movies like Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Dilwale, Dear Zindagi, Raees, and others.
